How the Timewax API works?

The Timewax API lets your systems talk directly with Timewax, enabling you to retrieve, create, update, and delete both master and transactional data. The API gives you complete control to integrate and automate processes.

By leveraging the Timewax API, you eliminate repetitive manual tasks, improve data accuracy, and ensure real-time consistency between Timewax and your other business systems.

Do you have any questions? We’re happy to help.

API stands for Application Programming Interface. An API is a software intermediary. So it allows two applications to talk to each other. In other words, the Timewax API is a messenger. It delivers your request to the Timewax software and then hands its reply back to you. An API makes it easier to develop an integration with your systems, because it provides you with building blocks.

There’s no difference between what you can do through the front-end of Timewax and our API. You can retrieve, create, edit and delete data. These actions apply to master data and transactional data. Master data includes clients, projects, resources and skills. Transactional data includes planning bookings, time sheets and gantt charts.

The API is available as an HTTPS service, which sends data to the XML Timewax server by a GET or POST request. Based on this request, it returns XML data. Each service has its specific URL, request and response definition. All services are authorized based on a token  using Timewax credentials. For the technical documentation, see this support article.

Based on our fair use policy, we apply limits to API requests to help manage the load on the API. We will allow a maximum of 5 requests per second per client environment. Next to that there is also a maximum number of requests per month depending on your edition. In our experience, efficiently build integrations will never reach the max.
